Welcome Back to Wells St Beach!
OUR GOAL IS TO KEEP THE BEACH OPEN ALL SUMMER FOR YOU. 
WSB WILL OPERATE RESPONSIBLY AND IS TAKING ENHANCED STEPS TO CONTINUE TO SERVE YOU
WE ARE FORTUNATE TO BE ALLOWED TO OPEN AND PROVIDE YOU WITH ACCESS TO THE BEACH
Wells St Beach is located in Gary, Lake County, IN and is required to comply with the policies of these jurisdictions. 
Wells St. Beach Parking and Concession is privately owned and has the privilege and right to operate with stricter guidelines to protect ownership, our valued employees & customers.  Coronavirus is on everyone's mind as its effects are being felt around the world. Please know that Wells St Beach is taking all necessary measures to safeguard our staff while ensuring that your needs can be met.
This business plan is posted to comply with the requirement of the City of Gary, and to eliminate any confusion with customers and employees. 
General Employee Guidelines
  • Temperature will be taken at beginning of shift
  • Employees will wash hands upon arrival and frequently during their shift
  • Employees will wear face masks at all times
  • Employees are asked to social distance and avoid groups and per their residency, practice enhanced sanitation guidelines when off duty                                                                              
General Customer Guidelines
  • Customers over the age of 2 should wear a mask to protect our employees and other customers while anywhere on the property when social distancing is not possible. 
  • Customers are required to social distance at a minimum of 6 feet with all WSB employees
*We understand that not all people can wear a mask for a variety of reasons, and we understand and respect those in these special circumstances
Parking
  • The first two week we parked cars with one car space between each car.  
  • No congregating will be permitted in these open spaces. Please exit your parking area as quickly as possible and head to the beach
  • Attendants will wear face masks
  • Attendant at gate will wear face mask and gloves
  • Parking attendant at gate will inform all customers of the latest Marquette Park Beach Rules as pertaining to COVID19
    • social distance by a minimum of 6’ as of latest information on 5/15/2020
    • no more than 10 in a group as of latest information on 5/15/2020
Restroom Rooms
  • One person at a time per restroom to comply with social distancing. 
  • Restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized every half hour, or more as needed
  • Soap and water is and always has been at the sink in the restrooms.  Hand washing information will be posted
  • Social distancing markers will be in place for the restroom line
Concession Stand and Patio Area
WSB follows ServSafe guidelines and continues to adhere to the COVID19 updates
*ServSafe is the restaurant industry's leading source of guidelines, education and certification regarding sanitation
 
Kitchen
  • In an attempt to minimize contact between employees and guests during the distribution of goods WSB will be selling pre-packaged drinks instead of fountain drinks.  Canned soda, bottled water, bottled Gatorade and tea.
  • Employees will wear facemasks.  They will be given two washable masks upon hire and instructions on how to clean them daily. Disposable masks will be available for a $1.75 fee if they forget their washable mask.  If their free washable mask is lost, the employee will need to replace it on their own or purchase another one from WSB for $10.00
  • Single use gloves will be used properly at all times. 
  • Frequent hand washing is required. Handwashing instruction video required to watch upon hire.
  • Social distancing will be practiced and zones will be clearly marked
  • Only on-duty kitchen staff and WSB management will be allowed in the kitchen.  Parking staff, security personnel and vendors will be limited to only the back storage room.
 Concession Ordering and Pick-up  (Masks are available for customer purchase for $2.00) it is requested that customer wear them when ordering
  • Social distancing marking for the concession line will be marked on floor. 
  • Separate windows will be used for ordering and pick up
  • In an attempt to minimize contact food delivery will follow the following procedure:
    • Food orders will be placed in a bag, and the order number will be written on the bag for ease of identification.
    • Order numbers will be written on a piece of disposable paper and handed to the customer at time of order.
    • WSB employee will call out order number
    • Employee will place the bag outside the pickup window, close window and then customer pick up their order
Patio
  • WSB will not be placing tables & chairs on the patio
  • No personal tables or chairs are permitted on patio
  • No outside food or drink is allowed on patio
Under ‘The Tree’ and on ‘The Wall’
  • No congregating or personal furniture will be allowed
Beach
The beach is the property of Marquette Park.  The rules are enforced by the Gary Park Dept, the Lake County Sheriff Beach Patrol, and the Gary Police and Fire departments.  Per their guidelines Social Distancing is also required on the beach.  Not adhering to this could result in beach closures.
WE ARE FORTUNATE TO BE ALLOWED TO OPEN AND PROVIDE YOU WITH THE CLOSEST AND CLEANEST ACCESS TO THE BEACH. PLEASE CONTINUE TO TREAT OUR EMPLOYEES AND ALL OF OUR BEACH BUMS WITH KINDNESS AND RESPECT
IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THESE GUIDESLINES YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE
